Time for a study in color. Last year’s choice was … A Study in Purple This year we are looking at….
In nature, the color white is found quite prolifically, especially in springtime. In psychology, the color white has many meanings…. “In color psychology white is the color of new beginnings, wiping the slate clean, so to speak. It is the blank canvas waiting to be written upon. While white isn’t stimulating to the senses, it opens the way for the creation of anything the mind can conceive.” The article from this website also suggests, “Too much white can cause feelings of isolation and emptiness; it can be too pristine and immaculate, making you feel as though you can’t make a move for fear of upsetting it or creating a mess.”
Whatever the meaning, I find the color white that pops up in the forest around our little homestead to be really beautiful and refreshing…with the exception of those fox-tails pictured above..I don’t like those too much.
Okay…those two lovelies didn’t just pop up in the forest…..they had a little help…..as did these…..
….and these…..
…..but not these…..
……nor these…..
….some white beauties in the forest even have a small splash of color.
Wait…where did these come from??
Weird….but the chickens love them!!
The weather brings it own….
…….a foggy whiteout…..
…..a freezing ice storm leaving everything coated in clear, cold, white ice…..
…..and of course, the white of a winter wonderland.
We didn’t get any snow this year, but the ice storm in November was beautiful!!!
The beauty in the gift of the color white does not end at the front door….go inside, there is a bit more. Some of those gifts come in white paper bags…..
…….resulting in a freezer full of deliciousness……
……along with some frozen Willamette Valley Pie Company pies ….thank you, Barb!!!
The emerging white on a beautiful face……
…….but with all of the beauty, fun, and yumminess that the color white brings to our home….nothing compares to the dramatic, overwhelming presence of my daughter’s son, Hank…….
…..who can resist that furry lusciousness??!!!!
Happy summer to you all…I hope you all stay cool and refreshed out there….remember to wear those life vests out on those rivers and lakes. Have a wonderful Sunday!!
Your friend from Oregon,
Tami
